Mumbai – The city of hope
My ever lasting fascination towards the city can be derived not only by my inclination towards Mumbai’s night-life or my adoration towards Sachin or SRK but mainly b’coz I always felt its a considerate and kind city giving hope and shelter to millions of people pouring in from other parts of the country trying to earn a living and establish themselves as an individual.
Though I had missed my friend Vishal’s wedding ceremony, no way I was going to miss his reception. Mumbai was calling..!!!
The ceremony was on Saturday and we wanted the fastest and cheapest mode, sleeper bus was our justest choice. So, Friday night six of us boarded the bus for an awesome trip to the city of hope. The express highway from pune to mumbai was scenically stunning. The bus was in time and we reached outskirts of mumbai by 9 in the morning. We peeped through the window and reminiscently talked about our last visit. I was 10 when I visited mumbai. I remember I had so much fun at hanging garden(Not sure if it still exists..).
Hotel Hilton in Andheri(E) was the place arranged for. Not sure on the count of stars it has, but yes it was lavish enough to make all of us merry. Aamir sir was happy showing off his diving skills on the pool. Free alcohol in our mini fridges were ample to mesmerise Nitesh sir. My shopaholic wife Poulamee & lovely Divya ma’am never looked so clear in their intent (shop & spa & shop & spa & shop…). Navnish was in his best sense of humour touch & I was happy b’coz it was Mumbai. Later our college friend Akhilesh aka Andu(he still plays cricket…we don’t…envy!!!) joined us for the reception.
By evening we were off to the ceremony which was on some ground in Nariman point. Its the place to be. Located on the shores of Arabian sea, its India’s favourite iconic beauty spot. The reception was perfect icing on our mood. Palatial decoration, exquisite food, executive treatment & lovely wedding couple. Wishing Vishal & Reema a prosperous and rocking life together.
Once done with the reception, we rolled to conquer the night of mumbai.
Whole night we drove and momentarily stopped for anything important. To mention a few of course ‘Mannat’ (King khan’s huge villa), Salman bhai’s Galaxy apartment, Sachin’s new house in bandra, Ambani’s palace, Big B’s kingdom and many celebrity house. Haji Ali looked so spiritual at night. We also hopped on to one of the famous pub Gokul near Gateway of India.
Mumbai is so much alive at nights. The thing we miss in bangalore.(though namma bengaluru rocks in many other ways!!). By 4 am we were back to our hotel. Sunday was relaxing day for us. While most of us(boys!!!) preferred to spend the time loosening up by the pool and bathtub, two ladies were out shopping and bargaining array of shops in Linking market located in Bandra(W).
Evening we boarded our bus back to bangalore. But still one thing was missing. The famous Vada Pav was yet to be tasted. Thankfully on one of the bus stoppage, we got hold of them. Happy ending!!!
A wonderful trip with lots of fun. But we will be back mumbai!! Many unexplored places still to be unravelled.
